The project for the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases aims to develop an integrated framework for managing plant pest and disease control across Saudi Arabia. It encompasses studying the current situation, creating and updating procedural and regulatory manuals, designing evaluation models and report templates, preparing operational plans for branches, and training staff across the kingdom’s regions.
A. The Challenge
The main challenge was to standardize and modernize the various guidelines, procedures and evaluation mechanisms used across different regions and branches. It required understanding the existing situation, identifying gaps in current documentation, ensuring consistency in plant pest and disease management practices, and coordinating training and operational planning across multiple regions.
B. Our Solution
The solution employed a phased approach: first evaluating the current situation and existing manuals; then developing and updating six procedural and regulatory guides; designing six evaluation models and report templates; preparing twenty‑six operational plans for branches; and providing training and knowledge transfer to ensure sustainable implementation of the new systems.
C. Key Achievements
Key achievements include comprehensive evaluation of existing practices, development of six procedural and regulatory guides and six evaluation mechanisms, creation of monthly, quarterly and annual report templates, preparation of twenty‑six operational plans across thirteen regions, and training programs that transferred knowledge and empowered the center’s staff to implement the integrated management framework effectively.
